Brozilian Wax

£55.00

The intimate area is treated with advanced non-strip wax for your comfort. The wax “shrink-wraps” the hair as it cools instead of sticking indiscriminately to hair and skin in this delicate area. Then the wax is removed directly without use of a paper or fabric strip, hence “non-strip wax”.

Hair is removed from the buttocks and groin.

Brozilian – £55

Male waxing is no longer reserved for athletes nor is it a taboo, as apparently 1 in 3 men have integrated manscaping into their beauty routine. Sugaring, hot wax or wax strips are all waxing techniques that will leave you stubble free for up to four weeks. Smooth!

Previously only used by male athletes, body builders, actors and models, male waxing is officially mainstream. The recent increase in gentlemen’s grooming means that treatments offering temporary or permanent hair removal are no longer considered effeminate or vain. Intimate waxing has developed its own vocabulary with ‘manscaping’ and ‘boyzilians’ as well as some slightly less subtle descriptions!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The benefits of waxing include reduced body odour as well as improved appearance and enhanced muscle definition. A smooth finish can improve sporting performance and self-confidence alike, as muscles appear bigger. A great extra boost for all you gym goers out there. There’s no real difference between male waxing and female waxing, just a lot more hair to be removed. Waxing can be a little painful the first time, especially around more sensitive areas but a trained hair removal therapist will use a range of products and techniques to minimise any discomfort and with regular appointments, it will become a virtually pain free process. This is because the hair in regularly treated areas will thin over time becoming softer and lighter in colour. As they say, your first wax is always the hardest!

The benefits of waxing include reduced body odour as well as improved appearance and enhanced muscle definition.

Why wax when you can shave? It might be quick and convenient, but shaving only removes hair at the surface, quickly leading to stubble, waxing meanwhile takes hair out from the root leaving a lasting, smooth finish. Regrowth won’t tend to occur until three to eight weeks later.

The wax used can be liquid or solid and applied hot or cold onto the skin in thin layers using some form of spatula or a dispenser with a roller. Perron Rigot wax is often used by more high end salons as it’s known for fast and thorough removal. Lycon is a popular choice and is more than sufficient. Sugaring may be offered as an alternative to wax for those particularly worried about the pain factor.

GOOD TO KNOW

One thing to think about is whether you’d be more comfortable with a male or female therapist, and to select a salon accordingly. Male waxing tends to require all bottom layers of clothing to be removed and a degree of movement to reach specific areas. If you know what we mean. There’s no point being shy about these things and your therapist will have seen it all before.

GOOD TO KNOW

If you are waxing for a special event or before a holiday, give your skin a couple of days after your wax to settle down before taking a flight, long drive or similar.

We welcome non-binary and transitioning clients, and are happy to discuss any details or preferences you might have to enable your comfort. All discussions are confidential.

RESTRICTIONS

Not suitable on sunburned skin.

Not suitable for anyone using or having used Roaccutane on the last 6 months.

After your wax it is extremely important that you follow the aftercare instructions given by your therapist. Ignoring them can result in a chest or back (or both!) with red, inflamed skin, or lots of spots. And you really don’t want that.

For at least 24 hours following your wax:

AVOID

Strenuous exercise (do not go and play footy with your mates).

Swimming, sauna or steam rooms.

Hot showers or baths (lukewarm is fine.)

Sitting in the sun (ok, it’s the North of England, but it does happen.)

TOUCHING the waxed area (honestly, if you start doing this during your wax  you will get a slap on the hand, you’re introducing bacteria to freshly waxed skin and guaranteeing an outbreak of spots.)

Only apply the recommended aftercare lotions, or pure aloe vera (Holland & Barrett do a good value one)
